A Linocut Experiment

Hi everyone today I have been crafting with linocut. It was my first time doing this so I kept things very simple. I have wanted to try doing this for a while & really enjoyed it. Then thought it would be nice to share in case it is something you may want to try yourself one day?

I sourced some small 7.5cm lino art print squares which using a pencil I drew 2x designs onto. They are my own, but you can find lots online too, along with plenty of advice & ideas.

Once happy with the drawn images I used the blade to cut away the lino as shown on the one above . You always cut away from you as the blades are very sharp.

You can use different mediums to print with i.e. water based block printing ink with a roller. Surfaces & clothes do need to be protected when doing this. It really can be a messy craft.

For my project I did things a little differently & used a silver staz-on ink pad as though inking up a stamp to apply ink. Card was then placed on top & firmly rubbed all over to ensure an even coverage. Then removed & left to dry fully.

I used the images to make mini cards & decorated with Liquid pearls for a little extra touch.
They would make lovely matching gift tags too.

This hobby has so much scope...
Creating art, cards, bunting, coaster inserts & so much more.
I would most definitely recommend researching this craft if you are considering it first.

I used the cutting tool handle & 2 blades from an Essdee Linocut taster kit
We stock this kit in our online shop if you wish to see what is included.
(subject to availability).

Hope you liked this tiny insight into such an interesting, definitely messy but so much fun hobby.

I am off now to scrub the ink off my hands & the desk.
More ideas coming soon to the blog.
