Is It The Moon Or The Wolf That Howls ?

The wolf I think, but then again... Hi everyone this creative make has a Halloween Gothic style to it. I used a beautiful stamp by 'Crafty Individuals' called Howling Wolf  which was designed by Maria Kitano. The other items used were black versafine ink, distress oxides in three colours, blending tools plus cotton buds to apply ink in small areas i.e. close to the wolf outline. White, black and yellow card, white gel pen for the little dots and a die for the ornate detail. Using plain white card, I stamped the wolf first in black ink, then let that dry. I found using a cotton bud a great way to colour in the moon, gently rubbing & blending the ink just where required. Then I randomly inked the other two colours to make the sky. Finished with little white dots as though tiny stars in the sky.  I really did feel on this project that less is more and kept it simple with the lovely burst of colour from the oxides, contrasting with the black card I used to mount the project.  Colou…

The Versatility Of Washi Tape

... Sharing Ideas...Hi everyone I recently treated myself to some 'Washi Tape' from a lovely UK based business called 'Crafts Shop' run by Karen who I discovered on twitter. It is a product I have not used in my crafting before but always wanted to try. So today I had a little play with some card ideas incorporating it into the designs & thought it would be nice for you to see. Whether you already have some in your own craft stash or were considering getting some ? I bought a plain gold and a mint and gold patterned set of tapes on this occasion, they do have some lovely tapes to choose from including Halloween, Christmas & more... It was great having the different widths of tape to mix up the designs, along with some mixed items from my own craft stash. The papers I designed myself and the little wooden snowflakes are from our shop, coloured gold with a glitter glue finish. The three different cards incorporate making mini bunting, a decorative frame around a …

A Filigree Star

Shining Bright  One of the most recently launched Sweet Dixie dies designed by Sue Dix from the Christmas 2020 collection is called 'Filigree Star' SDD538.  It has such lovely patterns in the design and I created a quick little card project to show how pretty it is. I cut out the star then used the blank cut out shape as a template to draw inside. Then cut out the plain shape to layer the die cut star onto using glue. Once dry, stuck this on to the card using a double layer of foam pads and decorated with a mini bow and mixed gems. The background is a mix of black card, patterned paper, silver mirri card along with lace and a few more gems. This is my first play with the die and I have another project or two in mind to follow in a future post. Also some lovely thoughts on what you could create, maybe some starry bunting for your mantle piece or window, hanging decorations, place settings etc there are lots of possibilities. Hope you liked it, more ideas coming to the blog soon. Hugs…

A New Month And Autumn Beckons...

September has arrived That means Autumn and Halloween at the end of October are heading our way. It is one of my favourite times seeing the colour changes on the trees and creatively I enjoy making arty pieces with a darker feel/mood. So to kick off a new month here is my first one...hot off the press. Credit to Itkupilli whose kit Spiritus Mortis I used along with a few additional elements.
*** This September I plan to bring some more creative ideas to the blog for you all and a spooktacular giveaway later in the month.

A Beautiful Cross

Creative Inspiration This week I put a beautiful Sweet Dixie die that we stock to the test and am pleased to show you the results I came up with, which I hope will inspire ideas of your own. This was a 'Large Filigree Cross' die SDD207 designed by Sue Dix.  Measurements are 9 cm wide x 12 cm long. It has an intricate design and the possibilities for different projects are plentiful. I made the backgrounds using the die cut cross shape as a stencil plus the plain shape as a mask. Blending distress oxide inks through them onto black card.

The two makes are shown below in close up. One is a more subtle design, framed in gold and the other with the white card cross to show you how contrasting it can look in different colours. For both makes I also used a white gel pen to hand draw little white dots all around the cross for additional decoration, along with some sparkly gems to finish.
If you have communion, sympathy or Easter cards to create it is a good die to add to your collection…
