A Decorative Candle Plate Project
..Craft Ideas..
Sometimes it is nice to light a candle or two for a little ambience in the evening. So following on from a previous blog post where I experimented by die cutting aluminium sheet here is a small home decor project I finished today, a decorative candle plate decorated with die-cut aluminium.
I used a birch wood circle sized at 12.5cm (125mm) and painted it with acrylic paint. Mixing white, blue and pink paints to make a lilac tone. The Die used is a 'Sweet Dixie' Mandala Style Circle Set SDD513 designed by Sue Dix.
Using both dies from the set together at the same time, to make the one piece design which cuts at 11.5cm in size approx. I ran them through the die machine twice. You do need to be very careful when doing this, that the dies do not overlap one another.
Painted black acrylic paint on the aluminium and allowed to semi dry, then excess paint wiped off. Once dry, glued the wooden circle and die cut metal together - I used superglue for a strong bond on this project, luckily not gluing myself to it! A mix of small gems and pearls were added to decorate, just on the outer edge for detail. This allowed a flat surface to remain for the candle to sit on.
Candle placed to complete, ready to light later.
Below are the two seperate dies for you to see, there are plenty of possibilities for different styles of project, whether cardmaking or crafting, by using together or individually.
Over the coming weeks I have a few more mixed projects in mind to share here on the blog. Hope you liked seeing this one.
Sending hugs to everyone
Heather
