Decorating Eggs For Easter
Something whether an adult or child that can be so enjoyable to do as an activity.
Decorating Eggs For Easter Is A Classic Tradition & this is just one take on it.
I used a beautiful 'Decorative Easter Egg Die' from Sweet Dixie, designed by Sue Dix to do just that.
Making lovely ornate eggs for decorating on the card ideas shown below.
This cutting die has such a timeless design that can be used year after year & by adding little touches, using in a mix of ways. You can decorate it to make some beautiful cards, decorate gift bags etc...
This is how it looks when die-cut.
I do like that it leave the plain egg shape/aperture as well so you can have even more options.
For the first card I used both the aperture & egg shape.
Using two colours of distress oxide ink (antique linen & festive berries) I coloured the card along with a slim rectangular strip of card. To put the card together layered from back to front, white card, white egg shape, an offcut of lace, coloured card strip, coloured aperture. Finishing touches added were white pompoms, rabbit & egg embellishment, a stamped sentiment & gems. I also inked the front of a gift bag & added a decorative egg shape which would be lovely for giving a personalised gift in.
Continuing with different ways to decorate the egg shape. I die-cut the egg in patterned paper. Drew around the egg onto some matching patterned paper. Cut out & then used the bottom half to create the solid base for the egg shape. Lace, ribbon & pompoms added along with rabbit & flower. A strip of paper at the bottom & you have a lovely twist on the design.
Finally, I used the egg shape as a stencil to create the patterned background. Then inked all over blending & softening the effect. Layering order for this was patterned background, plain white aperture used as a mount. Egg shape placed then pompoms added the the edge. Gems, rabbit, bow & stamped sentiment to complete.

I found myself immersed in trying different ideas & hope that if you already have this die it may give you a few thoughts. We do have some stock of the cutting die too (subject to availability).
As always there are so many more possibilities & projects you can make.
