A Beautiful Cross

Creative Inspiration
This week I put a beautiful Sweet Dixie die that we stock to the test and am pleased to show you the results I came up with, which I hope will inspire ideas of your own. This was a 'Large Filigree Cross' die SDD207 designed by Sue Dix.  Measurements are 9 cm wide x 12 cm long. It has an intricate design and the possibilities for different projects are plentiful. I made the backgrounds using the die cut cross shape as a stencil plus the plain shape as a mask. Blending distress oxide inks through them onto black card.

The two makes are shown below in close up. One is a more subtle design, framed in gold and the other with the white card cross to show you how contrasting it can look in different colours. For both makes I also used a white gel pen to hand draw little white dots all around the cross for additional decoration, along with some sparkly gems to finish.

If you have communion, sympathy or Easter cards to create it is a good die to add to your collection.
Along with being able to use it for Gothic style home decor, cards, pictures, art or maybe Halloween projects too.

As you can see from the photo below you can cut out the cross leaving the plain shape which is great to use as a plain stencil/mask to put a block of colour onto your card. The intricate cross can also be used to ink through and add pattern and layered, paper pieced etc...the choice is yours.
Hope you enjoyed seeing the ideas. Happy Creating & if you fancy a look at our online shop the link is below for you. We stock a lovely mix of craft supplies & gifts.
