Fun With A Haunted House

Halloween Crafting

This post stars a great cutting die from Sweet Dixie called Haunted House - SDD473 designed by Sue Dix.  Just adding a sprinkle of imagination along with some pencils, paint & card to show you a mix of finishes. This die is a lovely size for smaller projects sized at 7.5cm wide x 9.5cm long.

1. Coloured using pencils, a mix of light & dark brown, grey, yellow, greens, orange & black. The background was inked then little stars and dots added to create a sky. Layered using foam pads.

2. Painted using water colours on water colour card. When creating the background while the paper was damp I ripped the top randomly to create ragged edges. Once dry built up more layers of colour. The house was stuck on with pads to give a slightly raised look and I added some pieces of moss. I also found using a light blue paint first then dry brushing with browns and greys gave an aged look.

3. For the tag I cut the house out twice using black & white card. Coloured & cut out the roofing, owl, extra ghost, bat & pumpkin in brown to stick on top adding dimension. White card was placed behind the house shape itself and then mounted onto an inked blue sky background with some green card at the base.  To finish mounted it onto a black tag shape with a few gems and twine was added.

Below all the projects along with a plain die cut shape & the die itself.

Great for Halloween and Gothic style projects, lots of fun for the children as well as the grown ups.
If you would like to see the die it is in the shop along with many more to choose from.
